A Note From Luan
Most of my week is spent out on lots and job sites, and Bellevue is one of the towns I actually look forward to driving to. The yards here have character. You get a slope, a couple of big old trees, a back door that sits a good four feet off the grade, and every one of those adds up to a deck that has to be thought through before a single footing goes in.
I’m Luan Nguyen. I run the crew at Deck Bros, and I still measure a lot of these jobs myself.
What I tell folks in Bellevue is the same thing every time. Show me the ledger, show me the grade, and I’ll tell you straight whether you’re looking at a repair, a rebuild, or a brand-new deck. You’ll get a straight answer and nothing you didn’t ask for.
We’re licensed, bonded, and insured, we’re Google Guaranteed and BBB accredited, and everything we frame carries a 5-year workmanship warranty on top of whatever the boards come with. That’s the part I want you to remember when you call.
What Bellevue Lots Do to a Deck
Bellevue is the oldest town in Nebraska, and it wears it well. A lot of the housing stock here has some age on it, especially the closer you get to Old Towne, and that age tends to show up first where the deck meets the house.
Homes on and near the bluffs sit on sloped, tree-shaded lots, so a deck out here almost always spans a grade change and lives under a canopy. That means taller posts, footings sized for real load, and boards that stay damp longer in the shade.
The trees are great for summer. They’re also why access matters. Mature canopy and tight side yards make staging material a real part of the plan, so we sort out how lumber gets to the back before we ever schedule the frame.
Footings go below the frost line and get sized to the load, joists run 16 inches on center, and the ledger gets flashed so water can’t track in behind the siding. Bellevue decks pull a permit through the City of Bellevue, and we build to the local requirements laid out in our Omaha-area deck code guide.

What We Check on an Older Deck
On an older Bellevue deck, hidden ledger water damage is the thing that bites people, so a walkthrough with us always covers five points:
- Ledger and flashing at the house, where rot hides behind the trim
- Posts and footings, for movement, rot at grade, and depth below frost
- Joists and hangers, for soft spots, rust, and spacing
- Railings, for a solid, code-height grip that won't give
- Repair vs. replace, an honest read on whether it's worth saving
What We Build in Bellevue

Deck Building
A ground-up custom deck designed around your slope, your trees, and how the back of the house actually sits.
- Full framing from footings up, laid out for the grade and the canopy
- Composite, PVC, or wood, with a picture-frame border if you want one
- Old deck torn out and hauled off before we start
See how we approach a full build on our deck building page.

Deck installation
We’d rather do it once and do it right. A rushed install fails early on these older, moving lots, so the framing underneath gets the same attention as the boards on top.
- Turnkey install of the composite, PVC, or wood you've picked
- Hidden fasteners and a clean, flat surface that stays put
- Flashing and structure done so the deck holds up for the long haul
More on our process is on the deck installation page.

Deck repair
- Ledger reflashed, rotten posts and joists swapped out
- Loose railings and cupped boards made right
- A straight repair-vs-replace answer before any money changes hands
Details are on the deck repair page.

Covered Decks
A roof built into the deck gives you the back yard on the days the tree cover isn’t enough, sun or rain.
- Roof structure framed and tied into the deck and the house
- Sized so you keep the view down toward the bluffs
- Built to shed water and handle Nebraska weather
See what’s possible on the covered decks page.

Screened-In Porches
Being this close to Fontenelle Forest is a gift right up until dusk, and a screened room hands the evenings back.
- A fully screened outdoor room off the deck or house
- Framing and screen built to keep bugs out and airflow in
- Finished to match the deck it opens onto
Learn more on the screened-in porches page.

A Few Quick Questions

Materials and Methods
We build in capped composite and PVC from TimberTech and Trex, and in wood when that’s the right call, either pressure-treated or cedar. If you’re weighing the two composites, our TimberTech vs. Trex breakdown lays out the differences.
Under the boards, the fundamentals don’t change. Footings below the frost line and sized to the load, joists 16 inches on center, hidden fasteners, and a flashed ledger. If you want a picture-frame border, we’ll set that too.
Financing is available through FNBO, including a 0% intro option, on our financing page.
