Deck Builder in Elkhorn, NE
Deck Bros has been a deck builder in Elkhorn, NE since 2020, working the whole 68022 area: the older streets around Main Street, the 2000s subdivisions like Skyline Oaks and Arbor Ridge, and the newer builds pushing west toward the creek corridors.
What we build here:
Featured Elkhorn Project: Repair and Resurface
The Challenge
An Elkhorn homeowner had a wood deck fourteen years old, with two soft joists at the ledger end. The surface looked tired, but the real problem was behind the house connection, where water had been working into the framing.
Our Approach
We cut out and replaced the failed joists at the ledger before anything went back down, then resurfaced the deck in TimberTech Prime+ and fitted a Westbury aluminum railing.
The Result
Four days on site. $16,500 total. The frame is sound again, the surface won’t need sanding, and the railing carries a finish that holds up in open sun.

Deck Building in Elkhorn
Most of Elkhorn went up in the last twenty-five years, which means a lot of homes here came with a builder’s deck: square, sized to the door, and finished before anyone worked out where the grill would sit.
| Deck size | What it actually holds |
|---|---|
| 10x10 | A grill and a small table for two |
| 12x16 | A six-seat dining table with room to pull the chairs out |
| 16x20 | Dining on one end, a seating area on the other |
| 20x20 and up | Dining, seating, and a hot tub or an outdoor kitchen |
Lots along Elkhorn’s western edge run into grade changes near the creek corridors, where a single level stops making sense and an elevated deck starts to. Either way the footings go below the frost line, because an Omaha winter will lift a shallow one.
New subdivisions here usually come with design covenants. Send us the packet and we’ll draw to it. Our Omaha deck code breakdown covers the railing, footing, and stair rules your plan has to meet.

Deck Installation in Elkhorn
- Dark composite gets hot in open sun. Lighter boards and PVC run cooler underfoot.
- UV is what fades a deck. On an exposed lot we push capped composite over uncapped board.
- Wind is a real factor with nothing upwind of you. It changes railing infill, pergola sizing, and screen framing.
- Freeze-thaw finds every shortcut in a frame, from footing depth to fastener choice.
We install TimberTech, Trex, AZEK PVC, cedar, and pressure-treated lumber. Our TimberTech Platinum certification is where the longest material coverage comes from. Stuck between the two big composite brands? Our TimberTech vs Trex comparison breaks down cost, warranty, and heat.
Most builds take about three working days on site once material lands.
Material options and lead times sit on our deck installation page.
Deck Repair in Elkhorn
- Surface boards cup and splinter. Cosmetic, and the part everyone notices first.
- Fasteners back out and the boards start moving underfoot.
- The ledger goes. Water gets behind the flashing into the rim joist, and the joist ends nearest the house turn soft. This is the expensive one.
- Posts and footings shift and the whole frame begins to rack.
Caught at step one or two, a resurface and a railing swap buys another twenty years on the same frame. Caught at step three, like the Elkhorn project above, framing comes out before anything goes back down.
Our guide to repair and replacement costs shows the spread between those two outcomes, and our deck repair page covers what we look for on a walkthrough.
Deck Design in Elkhorn
You see the deck before we build it. Footprint, stair placement, railing style, and board direction, drawn on your own house.
That earns its keep in a covenant neighborhood, where the board wants to see what you’re proposing. It earns its keep again when you’re choosing between a 12×16 and a 16×20, because that decision is free on paper and costly once the footings are poured.
The whole process sits on our deck design page.

Covered Decks in Elkhorn
Open lots and west-facing yards make a roof worth more here than on a shaded street. A cover turns an afternoon deck into an all-day one, and it keeps hail off the boards.
- Attached covers framed into the home's existing roofline
- Freestanding covers where the roof geometry fights you
- Under-deck drainage on elevated builds, so the ground level stays usable

Screened-In Porches in Elkhorn
The creek corridors on Elkhorn’s west side are good for the view and good for the mosquitoes. Screen is the difference between sitting out in July and heading back in at dusk.
A porch carries more than a deck does: a real roof, posts sized to it, and screen framing that stays tight past the third season. We build them from scratch, and we screen in covered decks that are already standing.
Our screened-in porches page has the builds and the framing details.

What Our Customers Say
Word travels fast in an Elkhorn subdivision. A good share of our 68022 work has come from a neighbor asking who built it.

Our deck was the original deck built on the house and 20+ years old and in bad shape, along with some original hardscaping below the deck.
I did some online research and seen a lot of great things about Deck Bros.
We called Luan for a quote and we were very pleased with his honesty, knowledge, and down to earth attitude.
We received the detailed quote the day he visited and liked the price and services offered.
We were quoted a start date at the end of March.
As I type this, the entire project has been completed, a full week ahead of schedule.
The team had great communication, was very friendly and did a great job.
We will absolutely recommend Deck Bros to anyone and will continue to utilize them for years to come.

What an absolute blessing Deck Bros’ company is! Truly wish we would’ve done this sooner, as 3 years have passed since we learned that we inherited rotting decks with the purchase of our home. Me and pups did not go out on the decks at all in 2023 because I was so concerned over safety. It’s their favorite thing to do…
From professionalism and friendliness, sincerity, being meticulous, pride in workmanship, very hard working & putting in long hours as well as cleaning up each day; and creating a beautiful and structurally sound deck for us, all in a very short amount of time too!
We’ve had 3 neighbors so far ask us for their info because they are so impressed too with how it turned out.
Each day, several times a day since completion, I look out and am blown away at the beauty; and that just like THAT, poof! 💨 Rotting decks gone, and replaced with a stunning deck scape now.
I grew very fond of all of them, it was such a pleasure to look forward to seeing them each day. It’s quite lonely around here since completion. 🥲
They are like having an extension of family here in Omaha now. 🦋

I needed my deck to be rebuilt and contacted four different companies for estimates.
Mike, from Deck Bros, was, by far, the most responsive. He came out to my house, took pictures, consulted with me, and provided a complete breakdown of all costs within days.
Working with Susan, Deck Bros was able to accommodate my calendar and was able to schedule the work two weeks earlier than originally planned.
Blake and his crew showed up on-time and were highly organized and respectful.
They completed the work over the course of a few days.
I was impressed with the level of communication from Deck Bros during all aspects of my project. I am completely satisfied with the work and look forward to enjoying my new deck.
I would highly recommend Deck Bros! Thank you, Deck Bros, for a great experience!

Because Elkhorn sits inside Omaha city limits, decks here run through the City of Omaha’s Planning, Permits and Inspections department. Our 2026 Omaha deck permit guide covers what that involves, and Omaha’s pre-approved deck plans can cut days off the wait. The filing lands with the city permit office.
