A Note From Luan
I started Deck Bros in 2020 with one rule: say yes when other builders say no, then figure out how to do it right. A lot of that work has been minutes from our Omaha shop, in La Vista backyards that were left as an afterthought.
What I like about building here is the grade. There’s almost always a walk-out or a slope to design around, and that’s where a deck stops being a flat rectangle and becomes the reason you go outside.
Talk to the person who builds it. Call us and you reach the crew directly. You get a real number, a real start date, and a five-year warranty we actually honor.
What a La Vista Lot Means for Your Deck
Most of La Vista went up in the last few decades, which leaves us graded clay, compacted fill, and a lot of walk-out basements opening onto a slope.
Here’s what that changes about the build:
- The grade is an asset. A walk-out lets us build an elevated or multi-level deck that meets the back door cleanly and gives you real headroom underneath.
- Footings have to go deep. On clay that heaves all winter, posts sit on footings poured below the frost line, or the frame telegraphs every freeze by spring.
- The permit is on us. We pull it through the City of La Vista and build to Sarpy County code, so the inspection is on us.
Want the fine print? Our Omaha-area deck building codes guide walks through the footing, ledger, and railing rules we build to.

The Work We Do in La Vista

Deck building
Custom decks from the footings up, laid out around your grade and how you move from the kitchen to the yard. A walk-out lot becomes a two-level deck with stairs that actually fit the drop. Best for: a yard with no deck yet, or one that never fit.

Deck installation
You’ve picked the look, we handle the rest. Composite, PVC, or wood, framed level and set with hidden fasteners so there’s nothing to catch a bare foot. Best for: you know the material and want it installed right.

Deck repair
Not every deck needs replacing. We get underneath, tell you the truth, and fix what’s actually wrong. Best for: a deck that feels loose, soft, or tired.

Covered Decks
A roof built into the deck and tied to the house, so the west sun and a July downpour stop deciding when you can sit outside. Best for: a deck that bakes or floods every afternoon.

Screened-In Porches
The open air and the view, with the mosquitoes off the retention ponds left outside. A room that’s outdoors without the bugs. Best for: summer evenings you currently spend indoors.

Repair or Replace? A Quick Gut Check
Lean toward repair if:
- The posts, joists, and ledger are sound and only boards or railings are worn
- The deck is level and solid, just gray and splintery on top
- You're fixing one problem area, with the rest of the deck sound
Lean toward replacement if:
- Posts or joists are rotting, or the ledger is pulling away from the house
- The frame moves when you walk it, or the whole thing sits low
- You've repaired it twice already and it's still not right

The People Building It
Deck Bros carries more than thirty years of combined carpentry, and the people who quote your job are the ones swinging the hammers. Nothing gets handed to whichever sub is free that week, which is exactly why the flashing behind the ledger and the railing you lean on both hold up. More on our about page.

What Sets the Build Apart
| The detail | Why it matters here |
|---|---|
| Capped composite & PVC (TimberTech, Trex) | A hard shell keeps water out of the core, so boards don't gray, cup, or splinter after a few La Vista winters |
| 16-inch joist spacing | The floor stays solid when four people crowd one corner |
| Flashed ledger | Water can't track behind the siding and rot the wall |
| Footings below frost depth | The deck stays level through every freeze and thaw |
| Hidden fasteners | A smooth top with no screw heads to catch |
Weighing boards? Our TimberTech vs. Trex comparison lays out the trade-offs.
