Part One: Initial Consultation
John and Jackie contacted Deck Bros in early September 2025. They had an old wood deck that’s gone through a lot of repairs, and it needed to go.
Their old deck was pretty big and it was surrounding their house. They had a really nice view that they enjoyed, so they wanted the same deck footprint.
The couple scheduled their on-site consultation as soon as possible, and they were eager to get started.
We had a very in-depth inspection of their old decking space to see what we can salvage or repair, and what needed replaced.
Here's what we found during our on-site consultation...
Bad looking
Due to so many repairs, this deck looked like 3 different decks glued together.
Bending floorboards
The decking boards were sagging, bending, warped, and visibly cracked.
Not up to code
The stairs, framing, and railing were not up to code and wouldn’t pass an inspection.
Signs of rot & decay
The deck framing was showing signs of rot and decay. It also had corroded hardware.
Part Two: The Design, Planning, Permitting
This was a full deck replacement, so plans and permits were mandatory. We make our clients’ lives easier so we take care of everything, including the design, permits, permitting, and inspections.

This was a large, 948 sq. ft. deck and covered porch. It included a 20×20 deck in the backyard, a 28′ walkway on one side of the house that leads to it, and an 8’x30′ covered porch.

Part Three: The Time Schedule
John and Jackie first contacted us on September 10th 2025. We had a consultation the very next day, and they received their first proposal on the 12th.
September
October
In October we started ordering the necessary materials and waited for everything to arrive, until October 27th.
On the 31st, we finished framing the backyard deck and we started installing the cedar decking area.
On the 4th, we were getting very close to finishing installing the decking surface and the railings.
This 948 sq. ft. deck and porch was installed in just 4 days, and our clients loved how streamlined and easy the entire process was.

Cedar wood decking
Cedar is a highly popular decking material here in Nebraska. It is naturally resistant to moisture damage, it looks beautiful, and has a great price for its value.
Cedar Wood Railing With Metal Spindles
This is a ‘better’ option for railing. More durable and beautiful than all wood railing, but less than full aluminum railing. It’s a great option to keep a deck replacement within a tight budget.
