North Bend sits along the Platte River in Dodge County, about 45 miles northwest of Omaha. Properties out here tend to have real yard space, and a lot of homeowners have been making the most of it. We’ve seen a consistent uptick in deck installation calls from this area over the past few years, mostly from people replacing aging wood surfaces or adding a deck to a home that never had one.

I’m Luan, owner of Deck Bros. My crew installs decks across the full Omaha metro and out into Dodge County. This page covers what deck installation actually involves, what it costs in 2025-2026, and how to get an accurate number for your specific project.

Deck Installation vs. Deck Building: What's the Difference

People use both terms, and we use them deliberately.

Deck building means constructing a complete structure from scratch: footings, posts, beam, ledger, joists, decking surface, stairs, and railing. Every component is new.

Deck installation refers to adding new decking boards and railing to an existing frame that has already been assessed as structurally sound. The frame stays. The surface and railing system come off and get replaced with new material.

Both scopes are common in North Bend. New builds on properties that have never had a deck. Installations on homes where the frame is solid but the surface has reached end of life. We assess what you have first and give you a clear recommendation before any quote is written.

What We Install in North Bend

Composite decking accounts for the majority of our surface installations. TimberTech AZEK and Trex Transcend are the two lines we work with most. Both are engineered specifically for the climate conditions here: hard freeze-thaw cycles in winter, high UV exposure in summer, and humidity swings that split and cup wood over time. Neither product requires staining, sealing, or annual maintenance. Both carry 25-year manufacturer warranties on fade and stain.

Pressure-treated pine suits tighter budgets or situations where the homeowner has a shorter time horizon on the property. The installed cost is lower upfront. Factor in maintenance every two to three years and the gap narrows over a decade, but for some projects the economics still work.

Cedar sits between the two on cost and performs better than pine in moisture resistance. Still requires regular maintenance in Nebraska’s conditions.

Aluminum railing systems are standard on our composite installations. Westbury aluminum holds up without painting, warping, or requiring seasonal attention. For wood-surface builds, we match the railing material to the project scope and budget.

Steel framing using Fortress Building Products is available on new builds where the homeowner is making a long-term investment. Steel eliminates the primary failure point in a standard wood-framed deck and pairs well with a 25-year composite surface.

Deck Installation Cost in North Bend, NE: 2025-2026

Replacing wood decking with composite decking for a 25 x 10 ft. deck comes with a price tag of approximately $10k.

However, if you choose pressure-treated wood decking, the cost can be significantly lower, around $5k. The installation cost for wood decking typically ranges from $9.74 to $12.43 per square foot. It’s important to consider factors such as the decking material, demolition of the existing structure, and any necessary repairs when determining the final price.

Project Type Size Installed Cost
Range
Notes
Composite installation over existing frame 200-300 sq ft $8,000 - $13,000 Frame inspection required
Composite installation over existing frame 300-400 sq ft $12,000 - $18,000 Includes railing replacement
New composite deck, ground-level 12x12 ft $14,000 - $17,000 Stairs and aluminum railing included
New composite deck, ground-level 16x20 ft $22,000 - $28,000 Aluminum railing, fascia wrap
Pressure-treated new build 12x12 ft $8,000 - $11,000 Maintenance every 2-3 years
Cedar new build 12x12 ft $12,000 - $16,000 Better rot resistance than pine

These figures reflect actual project costs from our work across the Omaha metro and Dodge County. Per-square-foot pricing on its own tells an incomplete story. Stairs, railing linear footage, site access, permit fees, and material selection all move the final number. An accurate quote for your project requires an on-site visit.

Real project example: A North Bend homeowner had a 24×12 ft. wood deck with a sound frame that needed additional joist support before composite could be installed. We added blocking and sistered two joists, resurfaced with TimberTech AZEK in Antique Leather, installed new stairs, and replaced the railing with brushed metal aluminum. Total: $18,000. Completed in four days on site.

Rated 5 out of 5

Our project involved the installation of a front entry composite ramp for a senior person that was joining our household. Because our timeline for completion was only a few weeks out, we couldn’t find any contractors to even provide a bid. Not only did Deck Bros respond with an estimate, but Brandon and Luan went out of their way to fit us into their schedule. They completed the job on time, by professional, friendly and courteous staff, and with quality workmanship. Thank you Deck Bros.

Fantastic work from Deck Bros. Brandon was very responsive. I contacted several different companies to do repairs and they were one of the few that responded AND provided an estimate.

They provided me updates throughout the project. I recommend them for any of your deck needs.

Frequently Asked Questions

A composite installation over an existing sound frame typically runs $8,000 to $18,000 depending on square footage and railing scope. A new ground-level composite build starts around $14,000 for a 12×12 ft. deck with stairs and aluminum railing. Accurate pricing requires an on-site visit.
New deck construction and structural modifications require a permit through Dodge County. Surface-only installations on an existing permitted structure may not, depending on scope. We confirm requirements for every project and handle all submissions.
Most installations run three to five days on site. The full project timeline from first call to completed deck is typically four to six weeks, accounting for permit turnaround and material lead times.
TimberTech AZEK and Trex Transcend are both engineered for climates with significant freeze-thaw cycling. Neither product expands and contracts the way wood does, which is what causes splitting and cupping. Both carry 25-year manufacturer warranties and require no seasonal maintenance.
Installation adds new surface material and railing to an existing frame that has been confirmed structurally sound. A full rebuild replaces the frame along with the surface. Which scope is right depends on the condition of what you already have. We assess the existing structure before recommending either.
