Deck Repair in Blair, NE

We diagnose what's actually wrong, repair what can be saved, and tell you straight when a repair won't pencil out.

Wood decking replacement

We’ve inspected and repaired hundreds of decks across Washington County and the Omaha metro since 2007. Most of what we see in Blair traces back to three failure points: ledger flashing that gave out, joists that took on water from below, and posts buried in concrete that rotted from the inside. The boards you see on top usually aren’t the real problem

Our deck repair services cover board replacement, joist sistering, post replacement, ledger reattachment, railing rebuilds, and full structural work on existing footings. We pull permits with the City of Blair when the scope requires them, match your existing decking species, and bring the deck up to current code on lateral load connectors and 36-inch railing height.

Most Blair repairs come in around $1,500 for board-and-fastener jobs. Full structural work with post replacement, beam rebuilds, and joist sistering can reach $8,500. We quote in writing after a free on-site inspection.

What's Included in Every Blair Deck Repair Quote

Every repair quote we send a Blair homeowner comes after a full on-site inspection of the structure, the hardware, and the connections to the house:

When a Blair Deck Should Be Repaired vs. Replaced

A deck with sound footings, a properly flashed ledger, and 80% of its joists in good shape is a repair candidate. Surface boards, railing pickets, fasteners, and individual joists can be swapped without touching the substructure.

A deck with rotted posts at grade, a ledger that was never flashed, or joists that have lost more than 30% of their cross-section is usually a replacement. Throwing new decking on a failing frame just buries the underlying problem under fresh wood.

We’ll tell you which side of that line your deck falls on after we walk it. If a repair gets you another 8 to 10 years, that’s the call. If it doesn’t, we’ll quote a rebuild and let you decide. Call (402) 600-0810 to get on the inspection schedule.

My husband and I are very pleased with our new deck. They were able to tear down and replace our deck in a very short time. They did an excellent job!

1 day for the tear down and 3 for the build. The workers were very courteous and professional. My neighbor who watched the whole process was impressed with the speed and skill that they used replacing our old deck.

I would highly recommend Deck Bros if you need a deck repaired or replaced!

My family and I have been renovating our home for the last two years and have used many local companies.

Deck Bros was hands down the best! The quality of work, attention to detail and communication with my husband and I throughout the project was second to none.

The workers were meticulous and did beautiful work on my back deck and front porch. Luan (the owner) was very responsive with our questions and was always checking in on the project to ensure we were satisfied.

Highly recommend using Deck Bros!

The Repairs and Upgrades We Handle Most

Decks fail in predictable places. Most of our Blair repair work falls into one of four categories.

Frame and Joist Repair

The framing is the part you can’t see, and it’s where most failures start. Pressure-treated #1 lumber on 16-inch centers is the standard around here, and when it goes, it goes at three points: the ledger connection to the house, the post-to-beam joint, and the joist ends sitting in their hangers.

We replace individual joists when the rest of the frame is sound. We sister joists when damage is limited to one face. We rebuild the substructure on existing footings when more than a third of the frame is compromised. Steel framing from Fortress Building Products is also an option on full rebuilds. It skips wood failure modes entirely and outlasts the decking on top of it.

Decking Surface Replacement

If your boards are cupping, cracking, or pulling fasteners, the surface needs attention. We pull damaged boards, inspect the joists underneath, and reinstall with matching material or upgrade you to a composite that won’t rot.

Railing Replacement and Reinforcement

Wood railings on older Blair decks usually fail at the post-to-deck connection, where water collects and rots the bolt holes from the inside. We can reinforce with new through-bolts and Simpson Strong-Tie connectors, or replace the railing system entirely.

Aluminum railings from Westbury, Fortress, and Trex Signature are the upgrade most homeowners pick. They cost more upfront but skip the rot, splinter, and refinishing problems for the life of the deck. Cable and tempered glass are also available for unobstructed views toward the river.

Deck Lighting Upgrades

Most older Blair decks were built before the code required lighting on stairs and at level changes. Adding low-voltage LED fixtures on risers, post caps, and railing rails brings the deck up to current code and makes it usable after dark.

We install transformer-fed systems that draw under 100 watts for an entire deck. Fixtures last 25,000+ hours and pull roughly the same energy as a single old incandescent bulb.

Questions Blair Homeowners Ask Us Most

Most Blair repairs come in around $1,500 for a board-and-fastener job. Full structural work with post replacement, joist sistering, or beam rebuilds can reach $8,500. We quote in writing after a free on-site inspection, with line-item pricing so you can see exactly what you’re paying for and why.
Most repairs wrap in one to three working days once we start. Board replacement and railing work can finish in a single day. Frame, post, and ledger work typically runs two to three days. We schedule the start within a week of contract signing.
Cosmetic board replacement does not require a permit. Structural work (post replacement, ledger reattachment, beam rebuilds, footprint changes) requires a permit through the City of Blair Building Department. We pull permits and coordinate inspections on every job that needs them.
